More advanced kids will learn pins and skewers, batteries and "discovered" threats and checks, the "scholar's mate" attack and how to defend against it, using your pawns effectively, piece balance, and some classic patterns of attack and defense.. All kids will have a chance to win medals or chess key chains. Children who have been part of Wenatchee Valley Chess4kidz classes during the school year will learn even more!
